Firstly, thank you to everyone who is bearing with me while I catch up with various things around here. It has taken much longer than expected to go through the hospital posts but I’m nearly done now and, once I am, will be able to focus on posting in my usual way. I realise it’s all been a bit focused on myself too, which was never my intention with this blog – I hope to be able to get some articles and useful information back into posts shortly too I promise. I have so many ideas, I just don’t have the physical capacity to get through them as fast as I would like to! But I really appreciate everyone that stops by and hope you’ll stick around 🙂

I’ve had a mixed weekend pain-wise, which is the story of my life at the moment. There can be such a difference between days and I can’t find a pattern or any triggers for the ones that I am in agony. Saying that, I’m having more ‘goodish’ days than bad and am getting into a good routine with my physio exercises. The physio visited me at home today, with my next level of exercises, aimed to start moving my hips a little bit more than I have been doing – these are exercises to do whilst lying down, to roll your pelvis and strengthen muscles that support the hips. (I will try and post them on here when I can, I’m just having a few problems with the bluetooth connection I use to transfer photographs from my blackberry). He also left me some Therabands and weights that I can use with my earlier exercises, to provide a bit more resistance and step those up a level. I’m going to be a very busy girly.

The next step will then hopefully be Hydrotherapy, something that I requested as I have always benefited from it in the past. The warmth and the bouyancy provided by the water soothes the muscles and takes any stress / impact away from the joints and means it is the perfect way to get things moving again. My home physio is trying to arrange this for me at the local hospital and fingers crossed I will hear from them soon. The other bonus is that it would get me out of the house too, which I could do with to, so I’m really excited about getting started. Hydrotherapy should be a must with arthritis patients; I would love to have my own Hydro pool at home one day… hey a girl can dream!

Apart from that there isn’t much else to report. My bath lift is going to be fitted tomorrow, so I’ll finally be able to have something more than a flannel wash! I mean, I’m lovely and clean and smell fine (honest!), but there is nothing like having a good ol’ soak in the tub and it has been months and months since I last did that. I just hope that once it is set up, Icanactually use it, as I’m still a bit unsure how I’m supposed to get my legs in; I shall find out tomorrow I guess! (Oh and I get to keep my clothes on during the trial run, big relief!)

I’ll let you know how it goes,

L
